== Meeting Summary ==

The library WG met to discuss writing a new library app

Attendance
----------

* jayaddison
* Munnu (monique)
* robbintt (trent)
* tymeart (tiffany)
* veloverso (kate)

Agenda
------

* Proposal by robbintt: move to a new Django-based app
* What to do with existing scanned book-db (given 50% have been thrown out since first scan)

Discussion
----------

* Level of experience with Django - some limited experience around the table, generally all keen to learn
* Trent proposes backend with django-rest & react frontend
* Jay: any existing similar django library mgmt tools?
* Trent: worth looking into
* Trent provides an overview of the existing library.noisebridge.net webapp

* Monique: how can we handle lost/checked out books?
* Trent: in a worst case scenario for a lost book we want, can re-order
* Kate: barcode scanner for check-in/out
* Trent: UPC codes can be unreliable, print OLID stickers?
* Jay: Do we have a label printer handy?
* Trent: Not certain, but can check & source/fund otherwise
* Monique: may be able to find an existing Python app to generate labels from olid
* Trent: thoughts on whether to require this in new app?
* Jay: suggestion to delay this and begin with existing functionality
* General consensus that we can wait until later to implement

* Trent proposes system design/architecture (see attachment)
* Volunteer groups:
* Backend: jay, monique, trent
* Frontend: kate, tiffany, trent

- Discussed objectives for rest of evening:
- Create github org
- Create repos
- Initial commits for projects

Work begins...
--------------

* We now have repos!
* Slack integration for most events to #library-wg (thanks to tiffany for configuring)
* Initial gitignores / code etc pushed

Next meeting
------------

We agreed ~1 month from now - mid-June - appropriate for the next library-wg session. Date TBD.
